NOC Technician

Position Overview:  

As a member of the Network Operations Center (NOC) team at Extenet, the Network Operations (NOC) Technician, Tier I plays a crucial role in monitoring and responding to service-related issues impacting wireless infrastructure services customers. The NOC operates 24x7x365 to ensure expedited repair and minimal negative customer experience. The NOC Tier I Technician is responsible for creating and managing network trouble tickets, responding to customer issues, and participating in activities associated with the management of multiple carrier networks. Must be local to the DFW Metroplex of Texas.

Responsibilities:  

  • Customer Support: Provide support for wireless networking infrastructure by directly interfacing with customers, customer NOCs, field service partners, and OEMs. 
  • Relationship Management: Develop and maintain positive working relationships with clients and internal/external teams. 
  • Troubleshooting and Technical Support: Perform triage, troubleshooting, technical support and technical problem resolution promptly. 
  • NOC Maintenance: Identify, coordinate, and document preventative, proactive, and corrective maintenance requirements. Escalating priority issues for NOC Tier II Technicians.  
  • Standards of Practice Development: Support the development of standards related to Network Operations processes, tools, and best practices. 
  • Project Management: Assist in the implementation of network upgrades and improvements.  
  • NOC Problem Resolution: Communicate complex problems, issues, and solutions to customers, vendors, partners, and peers. 
  • 24/7/365 Support: Participate in an on-call rotation and after-hours support. 
  • Backlog Support: Assist with the backlog of tickets for customers. 
  • Ad Hoc Duties: Undertake additional responsibilities and tasks as needed to support the dynamic needs of the NOC department. Convey a strong sense of urgency, responsiveness, follow-through, and successfully manage outcomes. 


Qualifications:  

  • Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college; Bachelor’s degree is a plus but not required. 
  • At least 1 year of related technical experience in a role such as a data center technician, help desk support, network technology specialist, or similar role. 
  • Experience with MS Office and strong overall computer skills. 
  • Experience with ServiceNow ticket system is a plus.
