NOC Senior Technician

Position Overview:  

The Tier 1 Senior Technician position within Extenet's Network Operations Center (NOC) serves as an intermediate role providing support for wireless infrastructure services. Building on foundational technical skills, this role focuses on more advanced troubleshooting, customer interactions, and system monitoring tasks compared to entry-level technicians. While still primarily focused on support and maintenance, the Senior Technician takes on additional responsibilities such as assisting with escalations and providing mentorship to entry-level technicians. Must be local to the DFW Metroplex of Texas.

Responsibilities:  

  • Advanced Troubleshooting: Perform advanced fault identification, isolation, and resolution for a wide range of network issues, from critical outages to individual element faults. 
  • Leadership and Mentorship: Provide technical leadership and mentoring to entry-level NOC technicians, helping them improve their skills and proficiency. 
  • Network Maintenance: Participate in and coordinate system upgrades, changes, and verification of system operations across DAS, small cell, and transport networks. 
  • Training Development: Deliver comprehensive training materials to NOC technicians and other internal teams members. 
  • Incident Management: Act as a principal point of contact for outage notifications, including drafting and distributing Customer Impact Messages and shift handovers. 
  • Documentation: Develop and maintain technical documentation related to troubleshooting processes, network changes, and system architecture. 
  • 24/7/365 Support: Participate in shift work to provide round-the-clock network support. 
  • Backlog Support: Assist with the backlog of tickets for customers. 
  • Ad Hoc Duties: Undertake additional responsibilities and tasks as needed to support the dynamic needs of the NOC department. Convey a strong sense of urgency, responsiveness, follow-through, and successfully manage outcomes. 


Qualifications:  

  • Associates degree or equivalent from a two-year college; Bachelor’s degree is a plus but not required. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of related technical experience in a role such as a data center technician, help desk support, network technology specialist, or similar role. 
  • Intermediate knowledge of telecommunications networks, including DAS, small cell, and transport networks. 
  • Experience with MS Office and intermediate Excel capabilities required. 
  • Experience with ServiceNow ticket system is a plus.
