
Senior Tax Manager
Position Overview:
Extenet is seeking a highly skilled and strategic senior-level professional with a strong background in tax management and financial operations. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of tax compliance, financial operations, tax strategy and tax preparation to ensure the company's financial success and compliance with tax regulations.

Responsibilities
- Tax Strategy Development: Lead the development and execution of a comprehensive tax strategy to optimize the company’s tax position while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Compliance Oversight: Provide oversight of tax compliance activities, including federal, state, and local tax filings, and manage relationships with tax authorities and external advisors.
- Audit and Controversy Management: Coordinate and manage tax audits, responding to inquiries from tax authorities, and providing strategic guidance on non-recurring transactions and tax law changes.
- Internal Policy Development: Guide the development of internal controls and processes to enhance tax operations.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with senior executives, investors, and board members, providing insights into tax strategies and financial performance.
- Relationship Management: Maintain relationships with external auditors, consultants, and tax authorities to ensure effective collaboration and compliance.
- Sales and Use Tax Management: Oversee monthly sales and use tax filings in over 40 states, ensuring compliance with varying state tax regulations.
- Use Tax Calculation: Compute monthly use tax obligations and provide external tax consultants with the necessary schedules for calculating the company's monthly sales tax obligations.
- Property Tax Coordination: Provide external tax consultants with the essential schedules for computing the company's personal property tax returns in more than 30 states.
- Accrual Monitoring: Continuously monitor and reconcile sales/use and property tax accruals to maintain financial accuracy.
- Franchise and Excise Tax Calculation: Calculate and file periodic franchise and excise tax returns as required.
- Ad Hoc Duties: Undertake additional responsibilities and tasks as needed to support the dynamic needs of the tax department.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA required).
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in tax strategy, compliance, and financial operations, with a background in public accounting and corporate environments.
- Experience in private equity-backed or investor portfolio companies is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to lead strategic initiatives while delegating operational tasks effectively.

- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization and distill complex financial information into structured outputs.
- Technology Proficiency: Proficient in using an ERP system for tax accounting and Microsoft Office (expert-level in Excel).
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Adaptability: Able to multitask in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines.
- Problem Resolution Skills: A problem-solving mentality, with the ability to leverage internal and external resources.
- Time Management Skills: The ability to work without direct supervision and efficiently manage tasks and time.
